Nubble Light Challenge Returns!

Hello Everyone!
If you find your way to the Maine coast in mid August, the Nubble Light Swim Challenge is back on! August 12, 2017 this year.

Nominated as one of the Top 100 Swims in the World, the venue takes swimmers on a 2.4mile journey from Long Sands Beach to Short Sands Beach thru "The Gut" between the mainland at Sohier Park, and the island that Nubble Lighthouse resides on. Location: York, ME

Not only a beautiful location, but a challenging event. The swim can toss up rough seas, with 2 different sets of swim conditions with the peninsula dividing the wind and tidal flow, and The Gut to swim through. Water temps are expected to be in the low to mid 60s, but previous years have seen sub 50 degree temps on race day, adding to the swim's degree of difficulty. Great event for spectators!

I'm really happy to see this is back (I did it a few years ago, such a great event). FYI though swim buoys are required this year.
